The Grain Dmoudre Association (1901 legislation) manages and develops the International Cinema Festival DU GRAIN A DEMOUDRE, seeks partnerships and financing, examines cases, and paves the way towards cultural and artistic activities.

The young organisers are active members of the association, thirteen youngsters sit on the committee along with adults (5 youngsters are present in the office).

The long term objective is for these youngsters to become completely independent and for them to run their association, the Grain Dmoudre on their own. They will also manage the festival, not only artistically, but where pedagogy and finances are concerned.

With the guidance of adults (from the board of directors, elected members and professionals...) the youngsters hope to encourage citizenship, and become themselves those who pass on a love for the cinema.

Devoted and heavily involved in the project, the youngsters continue this experiment year after year, enrich it and continue to motivate other youngsters from the region and from all over Europe to participate.

The festival is an event, a moment of action and reflection concerning the moving image which is the heart beat of very hard work all throughout the year.

From November to September, the young organisers are actively involved in preparing the festival. They watch previously unseen films, classics, prepare for the scriptwriting competition, invite professionals in the field, write about the cinema, and about films. They develop a marketing and publicity strategy to attract many people to the festival.

They participate at international film festivals: International film festival for young audiences in Olympia, Greece, Festival Pour veiller les regards in Aubervilliers, the Cin Junior 94 Festival, The Premiers plans festival in Angers, the short films festival in Clermont Ferrand...

Two Cinema Schools help to prepare the festival, its programming, its catalogue, its newsletter Le Canard engrain, its workshops...
These Schools are above all, a convivial spot, where exchanges and creativeness bring the young festival organisers and youngsters from the region and Europe together. Cinema professionals, elected members and members of the board of directors also profit from this meeting place.

The young International film festival Du Grain Dmoudre organisers propose a cinema evening once a month at the cultural Centre of the Pointe de Caux in Gonfreville lOrcher. These evenings help them get to know and meet on a regular basis their audience in Gonfreville lOrcher, and in the region and discuss the films which are shown.

The Du Grain Dmoudre association also plans the bill for the cinema at the Cultural Centre of the Pointe de Caux in Gonfreville lOrcher all throughout the year, thanks to a special convention which links the association to the town.

Directing workshops are also made available to youngsters from Gonfreville lOrcher.
