They will present the Festival and its guests: the directors of the films in competition, the young winners of the scriptwriting competition, the juries, the young Europeans etc.
They will award the prizes to the scriptwriting competition> winners

FILMS MADE IN GONFREVILLE L'ORCHER

During the year, the Du Grain Dmoudre association set up directing workshops in collaboration with the AGIES social centre, the Gonfreville lOrcher youth services the Normandy Refinery, to introduce young people and adults to cinematic practices.
These workshops, lasting on average ten days long, were run by professional directors and included script writing, directing and editing.

A fiction made by eight young Festival organisers, in the framework of a workshop run by Swann Dubus in April, on the theme of travel (5 minutes).
What happens if someone steals your most cherished dream? What happens if your raison dtre disappears? What would you do if everything you rely on changed into a pack of lies? Benjamin believed in his dreams, but does not understand they are not real. Is it not to late to explain things to him? |

The In-different Army
(L'Armée des in-différents)
A fiction made by young people in the framework of a workshop run by Christine Bouteiller in July, in partnership with the Service Jeunesse de Gonfreville lOrcher, (Local Youth Services) on the theme of difference (15 minutes).
One summer in Gonfreville lOrcher, a group of young people are getting bored. Their discussions reveal them to be rather selective and just a tad intolerant. Among them, La and Julien imagine a world in which they would dispel all differences and sources of conflict, by changing others to fit their own image. They embark upon a trek which will lead them to the Magic Djellabah, which holds the secret of world harmony.
When invited to reflect upon the theme of difference, La and Julien immediately threw themselves into a fantasy/science fiction type project. Not easy to direct with our limited means! But in next to no time, they had constructed a story with completely crazy characters, to show that differences kill monotony and create balance. The screenplay was complicated but they certainly did not lack the imagination nor the energy to produce this hilarious Matrix spoof, in the space of a few days. |

DHC, the new neighbour below

A documentary made by six young organisers of the Festival, in the framework of a workshop run by Jean-Marie Chtelier in June, in collaboration with the Raffinerie de Normandie (the Normany Refinery)(18 minutes).
In actual fact, we rarely really know our own next-door neighbour. The town of Gonfreville lOrcher and the refinery are no exception to this rule, and the young people of Du Grain Dmoudre have chosen to use this observation as a starting point to give to the film commissioned by Total, a travel log feel. The result is a singular journey to the heart of this ever-changing industrial universe! The Normandy Refinery remains an unknown world, with which local inhabitants have a complex relationship. For many, Total is still some sort of monster which both feeds the town and distorts its local environment. And in the run up to the opening of the new diesel fuel manufacturing plant, the DHC, it seems that peoples fears just wont go away. |

One things leads to another

film made by six people aged 13 to 87 in the framework of a workshop run by Christine Bouteiller in August, in partnership with the AGIES social centre, on the theme of transmission and descendancy (10 minutes).
Jacques (87) gives a little painting lesson to Marcelle (77), who gives some advice on doing cross-stitch to Nicole (71), who gives a cookery lesson to Michelle (52), who recounts her memories of youth to Elodie (13) and shows her a photo of the dress she bought with her first pay packet. Meanwhile Fabienne (49) does jobs around her house, polishes the little metal gun her father made specially for her, and unearths old Mothers Day presents made by her children. As for Elodie, she pays visits on them all, and observes them, but does not seem particularly patient or interested in all this knowledge being handed down before her very eyes. But is she really that indifferent to what these old folk are doing?
A group of young people aged 13 to 87, thats a new one! From their own personal stories and experiences, each participant wanted to develop the theme of transmission of knowledge, and particularly of manual skills. In this chain-style learning system, Elodie is a free electron, a back-seat driver, who manages to reverse the caricature of the impatient and cheeky youth as young people can be perceived by their elders. Each one of them took part actively in the writing stage of the project and in all stages of filming. They all held the camera and boom, and were present at the editing. A fantastic team effort! |
